This emergency order rescinds Emergency Order No. 2-KS-1-28-16 issued in Soldotna on Friday, July 1, 2016 and restores the use of bait in the Kenai River sport fishery from its mouth upstream to ADF&G markers located approximately 300 yards downstream from the mouth of Slikok Creek effective 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016.
Emergency Order No. 2-KS-1-28-16 is rescinded.
The rate of king salmon passage into the Kenai River is proceeding at a rate above what is needed to achieve the escapement goal; therefore the restriction on the use of bait is no longer necessary.
As per regulation, bait is prohibited through July 14 from an ADF&G marker located approximately 300 yards downstream from the mouth of Slikok Creek, upstream to an ADF&G marker located at the outlet of Skilak Lake.
